AMA Recap: Solana Modularity
A squeeze of the AMA, which was organised by Topology in association with Cambrian, Termina and Neon EVM
Cambrian’s CEO, Gena, participated in an exciting AMA on August 7 hosted by Nick Novo in the RestakingModularity TG community! We would like to thank all the participants - Daria, Kenji and Nik for a very interesting and engaging discussion about restaking and modularity in the Solana world!
During the AMA many interesting and challenging questions were asked with equally interesting and challenging answers, so we would like to share them with you in the form of summary.
Question block 1: Introduction
Q 1 from Nik Novo (Topology): Introduction about you and your project:
1. What is your project about?
2. What's your personal background and experience in crypto? Which ecosystems have you been involved with?
3. What's the current status of your project? What are the next milestones?
Gena (Cambrian): My name is Gena, I’ve been in crypto since 2017, started with ICOs and some trading, then went deeper into tech, ran my own lightning node for a while, did quite a few projects on different blockchains, for example some wallets, and in late 2023 I was fascinated by the restaking narrative. So I gathered my folks and we started building the restaking protocol for Solana, but we quickly realized that raw restaking is not enough, so we expanded our project to orchestration and AVS building. At the moment Cambrian is still in the development phase with some demos coming soon.
Daria (Neon EVM): My name is Daria and I’ve worked as a blockchain developer and devrel since 2020, most of the time in the EVM ecosystem, but got into Solana recently. NeonEVM is about enabling developers to migrate and deploy Ethereum-based dApps on Solana's blockchain using their existing Ethereum codebase .Currently Neon has its own mainnet and is available for both devs and consumers.
Kenji (Termina): 1. Nitro Labs is a core contributor of Termina which is the first SVM rollup as a service platform. Letting you deploy SVM rollups in minutes.
2. Prior to joining Nitro Labs I was a founding contributor at Sei Labs and got into crypto through Solan
3. Currently working towards devnet launch in the near future.
Q from Nik Novo (Topology): Wow, that's tough.
So, you know Move lang? Why did you switch to the Solana ecosystem?
Kenji (Termina): I think you may be mixing up Sei with Sui. Sei is the first parallelized evm chain to mainnet.
I joined the space as a Solana community member first as my background is in start ups and trad fi. Solana is fast and user friendly I immediately had conviction it could scale for retail users.
Question block 2: Solana community
Q 2 from Nik Novo (Topology): We can jump to the second one from that: community (wif hat) .
So, let's dive into Solana as a community: Are there only memers? Who are these people? What's the real size of the active community compared to ETH/TON?
Gena (Cambrian): Yeah, superteam is now present in almost every region, and this developers we are talking about. And the number of devs are growing, look at the various hackathons submissions chart.
Yes, this data is a bit outdated, but it's like activity continues to grow and doesn't stand still.
Q from Nik Novo (Topology): What's your plan to onboard thiese frens to the Cambrian?
Gena (Cambrian): Well, nothing fancy. Good old roadshow, showing everyone why they should use us for all fo their AVS and restaking needs. In other words to effectively engage and interact with the Solana developer community, we consider the following actions to be the most effective:
- Providing extensive educational resources and tools about the project to help developers build and successfully use the platform.
- Speaking at Solana Hacker Houses and Solana Breakpoint, running contests in collaboration with SuperTeam
Kenji (Termina): I would say that the Solana community is showing signs that it can rival the Ethereum ecosystem in terms of users as a result of its blockchain design according to many analytic platforms it recently surpassed eth and the greater eth ecosystem in terms of total economic value.
In terms of a community there are traders, developers, creators, and even real businesses leveraging the platform using Solana pay for enterprise solutions.
Q from Nik Novo (Topology): Daria, also, in your case interesting to know, what are the differences in the neon case? Does they need to know rust?
Daria (Neon EVM): No, they don't. There are some ways to optimize contracts for Neon, but still everything is in Solidity and compatible with tools like foundry and hardhat, etc.
Question block 3: Composability and modularity
Q 3 from Nick Novo (Topology): So, composability and modularity across apps in Solana: How does it work in your case Kenji, Gena? What are the best use cases rn?
Gena (Cambrian): We are actively exploring modular solutions, as we are both a product for them and can also be a customer ourselves for various modular solutions. Solana is not a blockchain that can scale like Ethereum, it is a monolithic structure. But Solana can allow us to move some of the load and computation offchain. Similarly, modular offchain solutions implemented in AVS can add additional functionality in the areas of zk-computation, PBS (Proposer-Builder Separation), preconfirmation, shared sequencers and so on.
Q from Nik Novo (Topology): PBS? Nice! But how?
Gena (Cambrian): This is unlikely to appear in Solana as early as tomorrow. Rather, it's like one of the usecases for AVS that some consumers may use.
Q from Nik Novo (Topology): Gena, have you started looking for AVS already? What are you offering them?
Gena (Cambrian): We are constantly talking to promising projects that see the benefits in running specifically in AVS mode within a restaking protocols.
With Cambrian these projects can operate and maintain complex AVS consisting of many nodes. We believe this will enable Web2-scale services in a Web3 environment.

Q from Nik Novo (Topology): Maybe you have wishlist about what to build on top of you? Maybe we have that on the evm and we should have dat on the Sol?
Gena (Cambrian): The most promising niches we would like to be built on top of Cambrian are:
- intent-based systems
- off-chain computing, various coprocessors: AI coprocessors, ZK coprocessors
- off-chain multi-agent verification systems that work with their own consensus.
Well, Nik thanks for having me, if anyone is interested in further discussion please do not hesitate to contact me on telegram or X
